There are many unusually distracting things in this world that could divert your attention from your task without your being fully aware of it. Personally, I believe this has something to do with the idea that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind, but I also understand that a healthy environment also promotes a healthy mind. But how often does being in an environment that you’re not at all comfortable in make you feel energised or perhaps even happy? I don’t just mean the actual location that you are standing or sitting in; I also mean the social situation or setting. Numerous times, the environment around you can make you feel uncomfortable or divert your attention without your knowledge.
Personally, I believe that whatever makes you feel better is the easiest motivation for exercising. The number of times I’ve gone to the gym to let out any stress, anger, or frustration I feel, I find it to be incredibly cathartic, and it also helps ME think about the next steps I’ll take in other areas of life. It’s impossible for me to recall how many times I even found myself in the gym blithely figuring out how to find the motivation and self-possession to go home and work.
It was game changing for me once I started using the gym when experiencing a mental block, because it gives you time to reflect on yourself and also to look back on the work I had already done. I’ve even come to realise that the diet I needed to maintain my gym results also contributes significantly to my feeling much healthier and happier. It also helps you feel more awake and aware throughout the day. For someone starting a business, the energy that diet changes benefit you, will go a long way towards bringing about a conceivable event of chance and happiness.
I also notice that when I work in a very clean environment, my mind also seems to be a lot clearer. I’m sure most of us have heard this before and would agree, but once you’re in an environment that feels or smells unpleasant or unappealing, you just seem to be much less motivated and content. It may all come down to the negative emotions that your mind produces when you are in a setting that you find unappealing in person, but changing that negative environment into a positive one will also affect where your mind is at.
If you work in reception, simply cleaning up your area (whether it takes a half-hour or three hours) can probably save you time at the end of the day because you’ll be in a better frame of mind to work harder. You’d be surprised at how often I’ve found inspiration or even just new ideas as I was tidying up the previous work area, similar to how I do in the gym. If cleaning your current space isn’t feasible for you, you should consider moving into a new one.
Moving around and engaging in general exercise will also help you get out of a rut if you find yourself in one. If you’re feeling unmotivated or unable to think for any reason, getting your attention away from work by engaging in something challenging—either physically or mentally—can help you get back on track. You’ll give yourself enough time to clear your head and get ready for the work you still have to do if you can set aside ten or twenty minutes to do some light exercise or perhaps go for a walk. regardless of whether you’re working or running a business, will help you stay motivated by not giving up. Taking a long break while doing nothing won’t help you maintain a positive mindset.
You can also use tokens to meditate on, such as a St Christoper necklace to remind you to stay calm and focused on the tasks you inevitably have.
